The Science of Happiness
My Girl Scouts of the USA troop is one of the reasons that I am Making Flex Work this spring. Watching them grow into strong, independent young women with deep bonds to each other is what keeps me planning new experiences for them.
This spring, we focused on “The Science of Happiness” and together we have embraced the challenge.
We have learned that gratitude makes us happier, so we wrote thank you notes to teachers who’ve made an on us impact this year.
We have learned that hearing positive things makes us happier, so we filled plastic snow globes with the things that we noticed about each other.
We have learned that journaling makes us happier, so we have taken a summer journaling challenge (with a prize in August for anyone who consistently embrace the activity)
We’ve learned that being in nature makes us happier, so we took a weekend trip to the mountains. It wasn’t a standard camping trip, it was just a bunch of girls and their moms hanging out laughing, playing games, and being outdoors.
This time of year, it’s easy to get lost in the busyness, so let our investigation into happiness help you remember to find a moment and focus on something that makes you happy.
