Try something new!

When is the last time you tried something new?

If you are anything like me, you find it easier to just keep doing what you’ve been doing then to go out of your way to disrupt your schedule. When I do decide to try something new, it usually gives me the opportunity to rethink my assumptions, challenge the status quo, and create something I had not previously imagined.

I felt that way when I left my corporate job in 2022 to start this grand adventure that I call Engineering Leadership Solutions. I felt that way when I joined the faculty at Georgia Tech and jumped into all the things that come with being a part of the academic world. And I felt that way at the start of February when I decided to create an online community where people who want to think about work differently could connect and get real time answers to their burning questions.

During the last month, I have learned (but not yet mastered) the Eventbrite system for weekly registrations, reconnected with attendees of past events, connected with new people who heard about the call and decided to join just to see what it was about, and gotten great insights from the questions posed on the calls.
Was I nervous? Yes!
Was the process slow as I figured out what to do? Yes
Was it worth it? Yes! Yes! Yes!

I hope this inspires you to try something new this month (and invite me).
