Backseat driving

Leadership sometimes means moving to the backseat.

This is my actual view as my teenager is learning to drive but it is also my figurative one as a leader when I give a team member the opportunity to practice a new skill.

The challenge at work (as in the car) is to not become a backseat driver. I’m a work in progress in both aspects of my life, but I’m going to use this visual to remind me that I can’t always be in control and I just need to trust that the preparation is enough to get us where we need to go.
