What you do at work often comes home with you

What you do at work often comes home with you. In the case of this basil plant, it literally did.

My amazing husband gave me this little plant for our 18th wedding anniversary and said that the words made him think of me (sweet, huh?) but the rest of the story is that he won it at a work team building salsa making challenge. His team came in something other than first place and by the time they picked their prizes, this was one of the options left. He told his teammates that our anniversary was approaching and asked for the pot with the nice words (we aren’t big present people so if you are, don’t get mad at him…this was above and beyond as far as I’m concerned)

This little plant has done a lot in its short life. It served as a symbol of team accomplishment at work, it opened a conversation beyond just the surface level office chat, it was a sweet anniversary gift, and it now sits in my kitchen supplying basil as needed.

Never underestimate how your actions in the office can impact other areas of your life (and thank you to whoever thought this little plant would be a good prize)!
