Wendy has been a pivotal mentor and role model in my professional life. I met Wendy in college and knew I would love the opportunity to work for her because of the way she cared about people and their development. Nearly 10 years later I got the opportunity to work for Wendy at a very pivotal time in my career and her approach to flexibility is a big reason I am still working and thriving in my professional career. When I started on Wendy’s team I found out I was pregnant with my first child and the way Wendy helped me navigate the situation and find creative ways to make me feel comfortable with my maternity leave and coming back to work made me feel like a person, not an employee, and helped me feel excited to continue to work full time when I had many peers leaving the work force in similar situations. The important thing about Wendy’s leadership is that it is uniquely formed to each individual and she truly finds a way to understand and emphasize each individual needs which generates optimal results on a team. Wendy emphasizes LIFE balance, making and leveraging “political” investments, and mutual flexibility. Wendy’s leadership style and coaching really imprinted on me and have been a foundation of my own leadership style as I build and lead my own teams.

Having just completed a career in business I experienced the evolution of the workplace over 4 decades including the unprecedented 2020-21 Covid pandemic. During those 40+ years I have seen numerous approaches to flexible work arrangements with varying degrees of success. Late in my career I had the fortune of having Wendy as a member of my team and experienced firsthand a model of a flexible work arrangement that worked for the teammate and the company. When people say, “I never knew Wendy was on a flexible work schedule” you know she got it right. She is a subject matter expert on the topic and insights from her book are invaluable.

II had the privilege to work for Wendy from 2018 to 2020. She’s not just one of the best Managers I have ever had – more importantly she’s an amazing human being. Wendy’s style of development allows her people to be successful by playing to their strengths and using those positive experiences to then subtly nudge them in areas that need improvement. Almost unnoticeably challenges become non-issues under Wendy’s guidance.

Aside from successfully managing her own team, Wendy’s positive influence and energy has always been felt across the different functions. She’s both inspired and connected people for the benefit of the entire organization.

If I have learned anything from Wendy it’s that time spend building and nurturing your relationships isn’t only crucial to your success, it’s also an investment in your own well-being. We don’t accomplish anything unless we do it together.

Wendy has a unique ability to evaluate a person's situation and create a solution with simple steps that can be followed. In my case, other people had given me advice, but it didn’t help propel my career. Wendy’s solution was not easy and it took a few years for me to complete, but it was exactly what I needed to be successful.

Wendy's coaching is invaluable to me. Her Flexible Work Arrangement Toolkit was a game changer as I was contemplating leaving my job at a large consulting firm. We reviewed my completed work tracker together and uncovered patterns that were causing me to feel exhausted and overwhelmed. Wendy guided me through ways to adjust my working habits, allowing for more flexibility and balance. I'm still in my role, feel more in control of my schedule, and think of her advice often as I continue to find my version of flex.

We recently worked with Wendy on a project in which she served as a 3rd party facilitator to ensure an unbiased and effective structure was in place with our customer to solicit clinical feedback for the redesign of a medical product. Wendy was great to work with as she did a fantastic job of breaking the process down into a format that was simple, yet comprehensive, which ensured that everyone's input was considered and all potential aspects and characteristics of the new product were taken into account. I was very impressed and pleased with Wendy's efficiency and effectiveness. I would not hesitate to recommend Wendy in a consultative role. She is intelligent, competent, professional, honest and transparent. We will absolutely employ her services again should an opportunity present itself.
