Where can you Make Flex Work?
Sometimes Making Flex Work means reserving a study room in a south Georgia library to teach a class. That’s what it meant for me last week when I got the opportunity to join my husband on a trip to Tallahassee to watch some college football.
When the ticket became available, I was eager to join him, but I’m teaching a virtual class at Georgia Tech this fall on Friday afternoons (it’s called The Art of Telling Your Story and it is SO much fun - ask me about it), which meant we wouldn’t be able to leave Atlanta until 3pm. That was going to put us in rush hour and prevent us from being settle somewhere in time to watch the season opening GT game…so it was time to Make Flex Work!
He called the Albany, GA public library, explained the situation, and reserved me a space. Why Albany? It’s 4 hours south of Atlanta and we couldn’t drop our middle school daughter off until 8am. Why a public library? He knew that it “might” be a free option (instead of a paying for a hotel conference room…which we have had to do before).
Not only did I get to spend an amazing weekend with my husband (even though his team didn’t win) but I also met all my professional commitments - this is what Making Flex Work looks like in real life (and thank you to my amazing partner in crime for his photo of me working).
