Leadership skills are Life skills

Leadership skills are life skills. When I get a new team member, a new client, a new teaching assistant, or my children make a a new friend, I try to build an authentic relationship. There’s no downside and sometimes you end up getting an amazing (and undeserved) little reminder that when they leave you, they take a little bit of you with them.

This is the necklace that I got from one of my children’s friends who is headed off to college. We will all miss her terribly because she has become a part of our family.

The feelings for her are similar to the ones j felt when I walked away from my corporate job and when I wrap up work with a client. No, I don’t see my clients and coworkers as children and no, I don’t want to be seen as their mom, but when you build authentic relationships, you can become someone’s sister, additional auntie, and maybe even a bonus mom!

If I have worked with you, know that I sometimes think about you. If I have worked with you, know that I’m cheering for you with every LinkedIn update. If I have worked with you, know that a piece of my heart is with you.
